‘Durham Skyline’ – Acrylic on Canvas 100 x 50 cm
At the start of a new year it’s great to get a long term project finished, and I’m glad to have put the final touches to a commission that’s been ongoing for a while. I’ve had fun with this piece, painting a large landscape with colour shapers has been both frustrating and rewarding. It’s certainly slower work than painting with brushes (maybe it will get quicker?) but it gives a textured finish to the painting that is hard to get otherwise. False colour gives it a slightly surreal feel which I’m quite pleased with, it’s something I’ve done before and I’m keen on doing again. Overall I wanted it to be a bit different, and hopefully it’ll take pride of place in its new home!
If anyone else has tried using silicone colour shapers, please speak up, I’d like to see what other people have done with them.
